Tampa, Fla.– The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has contributed $470,000 to the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program, helping nearly 60 Florida students access the education option that is best for them. DTCC is a leading global financial market infrastructure company that provides clearing, settlement, asset servicing, transaction processing, trade reporting services and data services to the industry.

Since 2019, DTCC has funded nearly 420 scholarships through contributions totaling more than $3 million to Step Up For Students, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that helps manage the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program. The program, which is funded by tax-credited contributions from corporations, allows families to use the scholarship for private school tuition and fees, instructional materials, curriculum and other approved educational expenses. Florida students who are not enrolled full time in a private or public school can access the Personalized Education Program (PEP), which provides an education savings account (ESA) to fund the needs of those students.

“DTCC believes it is important for each child to have access to the education that is best for them to succeed,” said Renee LaRoche-Morris, Managing Director, Chief Financial Officer at  DTCC. “We are proud to continue our support of Step Up For Students and help even more Florida students access that education.”

DTCC celebrated its support of the scholarship program at Tampa Bay Christian Academy, where most students use a scholarship through Step Up For Students. DTCC representatives had the chance to talk with Step Up scholarship students about their academic achievements and hear from Tampa Bay Christian Academy leadership staff about the various programs available at the school.

More than 380,000 K-12 students throughout Florida benefited  from a scholarship administered by Step Up For Students this past school year. Scholarship values vary by grade and county, but average $7,800 and can be used at more than 2,400 participating schools. Since its inception in 2002, Step Up has awarded over 2 million scholarships, significantly impacting educational equity and access across Florida.
